Technology x Fashion [Confidential]
In-store expressions of the collaboration between two brands, one know for its artistry, the other for its technology
Concepts for [redacted] retail stores, introducing thier new eyewear product driven by digital technology, informed by contemporary fashion and leading-edge culture. Hybrid expressions of the collaborators—[redacted], known for their fashion-forward experimentation around product, retail space, and culture, and [redacted], known for their world-changing technology—and tangible, interactive translations of the eyewear technology itself.
While [redacted] and [redacted] are very different brands, both share the same imperatives around innovation, design, and experience—each interpreting the principles through very different lenses (pun intended). Just as it is for the eyewear itself, these retail interventions are the expression of these combined DNAs.
Monster Eggs
Literally the product of of the union between the two brands. Gigantic interactive mirrored eggs placed throughout the retail environment. As visitors explore and touch certain parts of the eggs, the digital screens or display vitrines within are activated, becoming visible to the outside, allowing them to peer inside. Each egg contains different types of content—product demos, collaboration stories, actual eyeglasses, related artifacts, and other discoverable surprises.
Beauty and Brains
A direct, literal expression of the union of the two brands. A stainless steel and glass head with a perfect, unmarred surface on one side, and a visitor-activated responsive digital interior on the other. Both sides unified with the with a low-res LED ticker, replacing the eyeglasses while still referencing them.
Looking at Nam June Paik
An homage to South Korean artist and technology futurist Nam June Paik. Oversized CRT screens physically integrated into a clear face as a proxy for the actual eyeglasses, each displaying independent translations of the eyeglasses' actual technology features and functions. Content is responsive to nearby visitors—following, winking, smizing, rolling—reacting to audience behaviors—while different brand stories and UI elements from the eyeglasses overlay the human eyes.
Tech Stack
Oversized “lenses” act as individual storytelling canvases for myriad types of content and representations. Physically movable layers of glass with transparent OLEDs each deliver different stories and content from both brands, with interactive content representing the eyeglasses’ actual technology features and functions that visitors can explore.
Making the Invisible Visible
An interactive, explorable metaphor for the invisible world made visible and magnified by [redacted’s] technology. A chaotic, unpredictable construction that supports and presents tiny digital screens, each displaying a world of content, including the eyeglasses’ actual UI, marketing content, brand collaboration stories, and “random” brand-based micro-moments of curiosity and wonder. Visitors explore and interact with the digital screens by manually adjusting the physical glass lenses mounted to the construction. Tiny speakers are also distributed throughout, to augment the digital content, or to provide entirely audio-based moments.
